We're All We're Cracked Up to Be!

Meet our team of Eggheads Educators.

Hi, I'm Jason!

I am currently attending pharmacy school, but in my spare time I love to teach. I teach students what I’m passionate about—the STEM field! I enjoy seeing kids love what they learn. My favorite phrase to hear from a student is, “Wait, that’s it?” or, “Oh, I get it!” Helping kids get over a fear of learning is something I seek to do!

“You are a very special person. There is only one like you in the whole world. There’s never been anyone exactly like you before, and there will never be again. Only you. And people can like you exactly as you are.” —Fred Rogers

My teaching style is to NOT teach, strangely enough. I always begin by asking the student to solve the problem themselves. When they reach a point where they can’t move forward, I will then take over, reaffirm what they have right, and clarify any mental hurdles. I’ve found that this inspires confidence in the student and forces them to make their own connections! I tend to use the Socratic method when teaching (i.e. asking questions rather than making definitive statements). I also love outlandish analogies, as these seem to stick in people’s minds the most.

Hi, I'm Monica!

I love being an educator and helping students reach their greatest potential as learners. I believe all students have the ability to be successful and it is very rewarding to be part of that journey. I strive to be a very patient, kind, energetic, and organized tutor that allows my students to feel comfortable while learning. It is exciting to see students strengthen their academic skills and how proud they are of their accomplishments.

My favorite part of tutoring is the excitement that comes from my students when they successfully learn a new concept or when it finally clicks. It’s an amazing accomplishment to witness and love how their confidence goes up from there. I also enjoy when students share their interests and I get to know their personalities a little more. It is exciting to know that I can incorporate their favorite hobbies and activities into future lessons.

Hi, I'm Jose!

I try to make tutoring as fun as possible! I think tutoring is a great way to give back to students. I find it rewarding to help students look at subjects in new and unique ways. I love seeing their faces when they finally understand something that they had found difficult.

I would describe my teaching style as demonstrative. I appreciate textbooks, but I like to be involved and help them figure out their work. I guide students to the answer and enjoy watching them light up when they are able to get there independently. I love being hands-on and coming up with different activities!

Hi, I'm Toni!

My greatest passion in life is helping children and young adults reach their full potential. As someone who was labeled a “bad” student for simply struggling to learn the way others did, I understand how fundamental it is to cater each lesson to meet each student’s unique set of needs and learning styles. My goal in the far future is to open a youth center and provide quality education to families in need. My experience as a tutor grants me the opportunity to accumulate more hands-on experience while doing what I love. I specialize in helping students reach their full potential and build their confidence for their long-term benefit.

Kids are such fun, imaginative and creative spirits. Working with them inspires me with an abundance of new ideas. I’m also the eldest sibling so being around kids is so natural and comforting to me.

Hi, I'm Amelia!

My teaching style is conversation-based. I believe conversation-based learning allows me to forge relationships with my students, better gauge their understanding of concepts and make tutoring an enjoyable experience. Teaching becomes easier when we collaborate with each other. Additionally, I pride myself on my ability to keep students motivated. Conversing with my students gives me a sense of what they’re passionate about—and I love incorporating those passions into lessons.

Hi, I'm Jazmin!

I love working with kids and I have a passion of helping others. It makes me feel happy when I get to be a part of a child’s journey through life, to guide them to learn things, big or small, and to watch them grow and understand more of their environment.

I like to create an optimistic and compassionate environment for learning, where the student feels encouraged to ask questions when they need guidance. My philosophy is, “Ask for help, and help with find you.”

Hi, I'm Sierra!

As a new teacher, I’m eager to help students understand concepts that they are struggling with and show them that they are capable of understanding even the most challenging subjects. I enjoy the “aha!” moment students have when they have been struggling with a specific topic or concept. Sometimes students just need to see certain things from a different perspective and I like exploring that with students to see what works for them.

  • I have worked as a substitute teacher at middle and high schools, and currently work as an intervention teacher at a middle school.
  • In my free time, I like to read, roller-skate, listen to music and embroider.

My teaching style is fostering an open and collaborative environment where students can feel comfortable sharing and discussing their ideas. I believe that teaching is reciprocal: not only am I teaching the student a concept or skill but in turn, the student teaches me how to be a better teacher since I believe that every student is different when it comes to how they learn and what strategies work for them. Teaching is a group effort between both the teacher and the student.

“I will do my best today. But if my best today is not the same as yesterday, I tell myself, breaks are okay.”

I love seeing that moment when it clicks for a student and they get so excited that they know how to solve their challenging problems. That is one of my favorite feelings to experience in my own life, and it’s even more enjoyable when I see my student experience that joy of understanding.
