Meet our team of Eggheads Educators.

Hi, I'm Aleenah!

My biggest goal is to help kids answer their questions about the world. I love seeing kids come to conclusions on their own and I believe in seeing and supporting the potential that every kid has in order for them to be the best version of themselves. I enjoy teaching and it brings so much happiness when I see a kid finally understand a subject they have been struggling with.

“I will do my best today. But if my best today is not the same as yesterday, I tell myself, breaks are okay.”

I love seeing that moment when it clicks for a student and they get so excited that they know how to solve their challenging problems. That is one of my favorite feelings to experience in my own life, and it’s even more enjoyable when I see my student experience that joy of understanding.

Hi, I'm Ivan!

I have a strong passion and desire to tutor students because I want them to succeed in their coursework. My main objective is to make students truly understand and enjoy math so that they can have a more positive attitude towards it. I am patient, punctual, highly motivated, committed, and an enthusiastic individual who values education and wants to support this value through tutoring.

I enjoy being able to improve kids’ academic performance while improving their attitude towards learning. It makes me feel great being able to help kids in the K-12 community, and it also puts a smile on my face when I see students enjoy and understand math.

Hi, I'm Jason!

I am currently attending pharmacy school, but in my spare time I love to teach. I teach students what I’m passionate about—the STEM field! I enjoy seeing kids love what they learn. My favorite phrase to hear from a student is, “Wait, that’s it?” or, “Oh, I get it!” Helping kids get over a fear of learning is something I seek to do!

“You are a very special person. There is only one like you in the whole world. There’s never been anyone exactly like you before, and there will never be again. Only you. And people can like you exactly as you are.” —Fred Rogers

My teaching style is to NOT teach, strangely enough. I always begin by asking the student to solve the problem themselves. When they reach a point where they can’t move forward, I will then take over, reaffirm what they have right, and clarify any mental hurdles. I’ve found that this inspires confidence in the student and forces them to make their own connections! I tend to use the Socratic method when teaching (i.e. asking questions rather than making definitive statements). I also love outlandish analogies, as these seem to stick in people’s minds the most.

Hi, I'm Jose!

I try to make tutoring as fun as possible! I think tutoring is a great way to give back to students. I find it rewarding to help students look at subjects in new and unique ways. I love seeing their faces when they finally understand something that they had found difficult.

My teaching style is blended, I combine my patient and nurturing personality with the needs of the students. I also teach actively by engaging the students in activities and encouraging self-actualization.

Hi, I'm Tanya!

Teaching has allowed me to learn about my student’s culture(s), their languages, and about myself. I began my teaching journey through TIYYA, a non-profit that connects recently arrived refugees with necessary resources. I enjoyed my work because I was one of the first American contacts newly arrived families became familiar with. I take great pride in bridging the cultural and language barriers between us. I learn(ed) as much from the families I assisted, as they learned from me. This work is extremely fulfilling.

  • I have my B.A. in Political Science and Peace Studies with a Minor in Latin American Studies, and my M.A. in International Studies.
  • I am your typical “American Dream” story. I am the daughter of Mexican immigrants. I was the first to graduate from a university… and then from graduate school.
  • I enjoy reading, traveling, surfing and swimming.

My teaching style revolves entirely around my student(s) goals and hopes. I have taught students at varied levels of their language journey so when I work with somebody new I take the time to understand what they want to be able to do with the material I teach them.

What I enjoy most about working with adults, and teaching English especially, is that the fruits of their efforts are so quickly noticeable. Crossing the language barrier and watching people become independent in a new language is incredibly fulfilling. Reaching the point of being able to make jokes in a foreign language is my favorite part of watching students grow.

Hi, I'm Jasmine!

As a math tutor with over five years of experience, I have worked with students from counting to calculus. I provide the help students need in order to be successful in their math classes. It is important to me that they feel supported. Math can be difficult and intimidating, so one of my goals is to build the student’s confidence and strength in the subject. Connecting with different backgrounds is truly a sight to see. There are so many wonderful personalities that have made me laugh until my face hurts and taught me to be a better tutor.

  • My super power is being able to sleep anywhere!

“You can crumple a $100 bill, but that will never change its value.” You are allowed to have rough edges; that doesn’t make you worth any less.

My favorite part of working with students is seeing their progress go from “I can’t” to “I can”. The “ah ha” moments can make a phenomenal difference in confidence and I find it inspiring to witness this realization. Academics can be overwhelming and intimidating so being involved with students overcoming their hardships with topics is highly motivating and heart-warming.

Hi, I'm Monica!

I love being an educator and helping students reach their greatest potential as learners. I believe all students have the ability to be successful and it is very rewarding to be part of that journey. I strive to be a very patient, kind, energetic, and organized tutor that allows my students to feel comfortable while learning. It is exciting to see students strengthen their academic skills and how proud they are of their accomplishments.

“We can be whatever we have the courage to be.”

— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

My favorite part of tutoring is the excitement that comes from my students when they successfully learn a new concept or when it finally clicks. It’s an amazing accomplishment to witness and love how their confidence goes up from there. I also enjoy when students share their interests and I get to know their personalities a little more. It is exciting to know that I can incorporate their favorite hobbies and activities into future lessons.

Hi, I'm Amelia!

My teaching style is conversation-based. I believe conversation-based learning allows me to forge relationships with my students, better gauge their understanding of concepts and make tutoring an enjoyable experience. Teaching becomes easier when we collaborate with each other. Additionally, I pride myself on my ability to keep students motivated. Conversing with my students gives me a sense of what they’re passionate about—and I love incorporating those passions into lessons.
