Hi, I'm Monica!

I love being an educator and helping students reach their greatest potential as learners. I believe all students have the ability to be successful and it is very rewarding to be part of that journey. I strive to be a very patient, kind, energetic, and organized tutor that allows my students to feel comfortable while learning. It is exciting to see students strengthen their academic skills and how proud they are of their accomplishments.

My favorite part of tutoring is the excitement that comes from my students when they successfully learn a new concept or when it finally clicks. It’s an amazing accomplishment to witness and love how their confidence goes up from there. I also enjoy when students share their interests and I get to know their personalities a little more. It is exciting to know that I can incorporate their favorite hobbies and activities into future lessons.

Hi, I'm Jose!

I try to make tutoring as fun as possible! I think tutoring is a great way to give back to students. I find it rewarding to help students look at subjects in new and unique ways. I love seeing their faces when they finally understand something that they had found difficult.

Hi, I'm Hailey!

I am currently working towards becoming a teacher. I would love to meet your child where they are academically and help them develop their skills even further. My favorite part of tutoring is seeing how proud they are of themselves when they are finally able to reach an answer independently!

I would describe my teaching style as demonstrative. I appreciate textbooks, but I like to be involved and help them figure out their work. I guide students to the answer and enjoy watching them light up when they are able to get there independently. I love being hands-on and coming up with different activities!

Hi, I'm Toni!

My greatest passion in life is helping children and young adults reach their full potential. As someone who was labeled a “bad” student for simply struggling to learn the way others did, I understand how fundamental it is to cater each lesson to meet each student’s unique set of needs and learning styles. My goal in the far future is to open a youth center and provide quality education to families in need. My experience as a tutor grants me the opportunity to accumulate more hands-on experience while doing what I love. I specialize in helping students reach their full potential and build their confidence for their long-term benefit.

Kids are such fun, imaginative and creative spirits. Working with them inspires me with an abundance of new ideas. I’m also the eldest sibling so being around kids is so natural and comforting to me.

Hi, I'm Amelia!

My teaching style is conversation-based. I believe conversation-based learning allows me to forge relationships with my students, better gauge their understanding of concepts and make tutoring an enjoyable experience. Teaching becomes easier when we collaborate with each other. Additionally, I pride myself on my ability to keep students motivated. Conversing with my students gives me a sense of what they’re passionate about—and I love incorporating those passions into lessons.

Hi, I'm Jazmin!

Hi, I'm Sierra!

As a new teacher, I’m eager to help students understand concepts that they are struggling with and show them that they are capable of understanding even the most challenging subjects. I enjoy the “aha!” moment students have when they have been struggling with a specific topic or concept. Sometimes students just need to see certain things from a different perspective and I like exploring that with students to see what works for them.

  • In my free time, I like to read, roller-skate, listen to music and embroider.

My teaching style is fostering an open and collaborative environment where students can feel comfortable sharing and discussing their ideas. I believe that teaching is reciprocal: not only am I teaching the student a concept or skill but in turn, the student teaches me how to be a better teacher since I believe that every student is different when it comes to how they learn and what strategies work for them. Teaching is a group effort between both the teacher and the student.

Hi, I'm Makonnen!

I believe learning and teaching happens best in settings that are personal and specialized, which is exactly how tutoring is set up to be. One-on-one or small group learning is efficient, and effective, and impactful. I want to make the kind of impact on students that helps them not only achieve academic success, but also develop an appreciation for education.

  • Three words that describe me are passionate, kind and expressive

“You are a student until you become a teacher. When you become a teacher, you will always remain a student. “

My teaching philosophy is based on the idea that kids only truly learn from those who respect them, care for them, and want them to grow as thinkers. Learning is, inherently, a vulnerable process, so it’s the teacher’s job to ensure the student is comfortable and confident in their learning. My style is rooted in respect, trust, care, and patience. In my experience, learning can only happen when these factors are established and sustained by both the teacher and the learner. I demonstrate to students that I respect and care for them, that I trust in their ability to build their intelligence, and I’m patient with the process to achieve academic success.

Hi, I'm Aleenah!

My biggest goal is to help kids answer their questions about the world. I love seeing kids come to conclusions on their own and I believe in seeing and supporting the potential that every kid has in order for them to be the best version of themselves. I enjoy teaching and it brings so much happiness when I see a kid finally understand a subject they have been struggling with.

I love seeing that moment when it clicks for a student and they get so excited that they know how to solve their challenging problems. That is one of my favorite feelings to experience in my own life, and it’s even more enjoyable when I see my student experience that joy of understanding.
